Silvia
Nakkach, M.A., MMT, is a pioneer in the field of voice
and transformation of consciousness, an award-winning
composer, a healing music recording artist, author, a
former a psychologist in Argentina, and an internationally
recognized singer. She holds Master Degrees in Psychology,
Music Therapy, and Music Composition. Silvia has studied
raga singing and classical Indian music with Maestro Ali
Akbar Khan since 1982. Throughout 30 years of sustained
commitment to the field of music and healing, Nakkach
have created an innovated repertoire of vocal therapeutic
techniques that have become landmarks in the field of
music therapy, sound healing, and voice coaching. She
is in the faculty at the California Institute of Integral
Studies in San Francisco where she have created and coordinates
a new Certificated Program on Sound, Voice and Music Healing
starting in 2006. According to Silvia, this program will
be the only curriculum of this kind offered by a major
academic institution.
Nakkach continues to meet an international demand for
master classes, curriculum development, and performances.
Her recent work includes training and post-graduate seminars
as a visiting faculty in many prestigious institutions
worldwide, such as New York University, Beth Israel Clinic
in NYC, Arizona State University, the University for Expressive
Arts in Barcelona, the Music Conservatory in Rio the Janeiro,
the Alumine University in Buenos Aires, Argentina, among
others. Since 2000, Silvia has been offering regular workshops
through Public Programs at the California Institute of
Integral Studies, in San Francisco, where in 2006 she
designed the curriculum and is the academic advisor for
the successful Certificate
on Sound, Voice, Music Healing.
She is the founding director of Vox
Mundi Project that started in 1988 in Italy, an organization
devoted to research, education, preservation, and performance
of sacred vocal arts, with many centers around the world.
Nakkach is worldwide renowned for her seminars, lectures,
and performances committed to the relationship between
chanting, shamanism and spirituality. She travels extensively
throughout the world facilitating seminars, training,
lectures, offering concerts, and leading study groups
in India, Europe, Hawaii, Argentina, and in Bahia, Brazil.
Her interest in indigenous music cosmology and spirituality
has led her to work with many traditional healers and
master teachers of Indian and South American indigenous
traditions.
She has been a long time collaborator of prominent artists
and professors such as Ralph Metzner, Claudio Naranjo,
Steve Goodman, Joan Beaulieu, Mayumi Oda, Tsultrim Allione,
Luisa Teish, and renowned composers such as Pauline Oliveros,
Anthony Braxton, Kit Walker, Paul MacCandless, Miguel
Frasconi, and David Darling.
She is the contributing author for various books, including
Music and the Human Process, Music in Human Adaptation,
and The Transpersonal Consciousness, and Music therapy
and the End of Life. In addition to published articles,
Silvia is currently working on her upcoming book on The
Yoga of the Voice.

Silvia
Nakkach is an award winning composer, multi-instrumentalist,
singer, author, and voice-culturist. She graduated from
the National Conservatory of Buenos Aires, Argentina in
piano and voice performance. She holds Masters Degrees
in Music Therapy and Psychology from the
National University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and in
Music Composition from Mills College, Oakland, California.
She has earned credentials in Psychodrama and Gestalt
Therapy. Since 1982 she has studied raga singing and North
Indian classical music with Maestro Ali Akbar Khan. Silvia
has collaborated with prominent musicians as Pauline Oliveros,
David Darling, John Beaulieu, Val Serrant, Anthony Braxton,
and Paul Mc Candless, to mention some.
As a singer and composer she has received many awards
and commissions worldwide. Her major work, the opera Amazonia
Insight has been performed in many countries. She has
created a music repertoire widely used in Palliative Care,
Hospices, and Healthcare Centers for substance abuse and
during pregnancy and delivery. She have released eight
albums, her CD album; Ah, The Healing Voice, is widely
played in healthcare centers to create a healing atmosphere
before and after surgical interventions. Her last album,
Invocation granted her an article in the UTNE READER Magazine
where she was selected among a group of 40 international
artists who will shake the art world.
